I installed my new drain plug and it leaks! If you are experiencing this, it can only be due to an irregularity in your engine case drain hole sealing surface. It is not uncommon to have issues in this location, as they can be easily damaged over the years. In fact, when we sell a fresh engine, 9/10 exchange engines we get back require some sort of drain hole repair. Sometimes is it as simple as adding a helicoil, but it is not uncommon to have to drill out the original hole completely and install a custom-made steel insert.
